Forever a chameleon, adaptable and changeable, Mia Gugliotta is one young lady who lives a colourful life from day to day. Born in the ACT, Australia, Mia was destined for an adventuress life, having parents who just love to travel and experience different cultures. Living in places such as Papua New Guinea, Northern Australia, and to the opposite scale – England. It is no wonder that Mia’s designs reflect such contrast.
Never to have dreamt of being a fashion designer, though an artist, yes, Mia in all cases is both of these. She has had successful solo art exhibitions of her paintings on canvas clearly demonstrating a talent for colour composition. Mia’s one-off fashion pieces also scream flair, colour, and composition. Creating one - off wearable art pieces is a passion for Mia, and she says that "I love to hand paint my artworks on material, only to be ripped and cut up - basically totally destroyed, and then I recreated them into a one off fashion piece. This to me is the ultimate crime, I love it!”.
And what would Mia be doing if she weren’t pursuing a career in fashion? Well not much different to any young spirited girls dream: to be a model, to be an actor, to be in a rock band, and Mia did have her fair go at these. Well, first lets forget about mentioning the embarrassing acting roles in primary school plays, and gladly mention that Mia did nicely as a photographic model and won the Miss November title in the "1996 Official Australian Swimsuit Calender". She then moved on from the click of the camera to the chalk on the chalk board and became one of Sydney’s Top Artist Models, being interviewed by the Daily Telegraph and also having a feature story published in “The Australian Magazine”. Mia performed her own songs at venues around Sydney, played the drums in the all girl bands Covergirls and Taffeta Punk, and also completed a Diploma in Music at the Contemporary Music Centre, Sydney, Australia winning “Most outstanding student of the year 2003”. Mia is currently working with music producer husband David Gugliotta on an album for their Dance/Elctronica act "FyNE CuTz" .
Mia's fresh, fun and unique approach to design tells a lifetime of rich experiences, and when you claim a luvlok piece as your own, you too are becoming an enriching ingredient in the colourful journey of this young, fresh and growing label. Customers from all around the world agree that luvlok has brought that essential element to their wardrobe!
